San Ramon Valley voters elected a number of officials in special district races Tuesday night. In one uncontested and another extremely close race, voters will welcome three incumbents and four newcomers to local service districts.

Three seats were available for director of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, the majority of which came within one percent of their opponents. The district collects and treats wastewater in a 146 square mile area of central county, including 462,000 residents and 3,000 businesses.

Tad Pilecki, a wastewater engineering manager with 25 years experience in the district, gathered 22.08 percent of the vote. James Nejedly received 21.03 percent of votes, while Wastewater Management Consultant Paul Causey received 20.91 percent of total votes.

Three directorial seats were open in the Dublin San Ramon Services District, which provides water and wastewater collection to Dublin, Pleasanton and the Dougherty Valley. Incumbents Rich Halket (29.09 percent of votes) and Dwight "Pat" Howard (26.08 percent) were re-elected while General Engineering Contractor Edward Duarte gathered 27 percent of votes.

The DSRD race, including San Ramon resident Duarte's bid, has been extensively covered in Roz Rogoff's blog San Ramon Observer.

Three were elected to the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District's Board of Directors, another special district. For the complete story, click here.
