Pair arrested after allegedly burglarizing home, evading police in stolen car
|
A man and woman suspected of burglarizing a home in Castro Valley were arrested in Danville Tuesday morning after allegedly fleeing from
police, who continue to search for a third suspect.
Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, an officer attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Camino Ramon in Danville. Upon seeing the officer, the car's driver started speeding away onto northbound Interstate Highway 680, police said.
As the officer gave chase and called for backup, occupants inside the suspicious car started tossing objects out of the window.
Police said the car exited Highway 680 at Stone Valley Road and was found crashed on a curb at the intersection of Stone Valley Road and Stone Valley Way.
The three suspects inside the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Police and Contra Costa County Sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter in the
area and searched for the suspects, and nearby Stone Valley Middle School and Doris Eaton School were both placed on lockdown as a precaution, police said.
A short time later, officers nabbed two of the suspects, identified as Antioch residents Jennifer Crackel, 30, and Michael Grande, 32.
Police located several items along the roadway that had been thrown from the suspect vehicle and were confirmed to have been stolen during an earlier home burglary in Castro Valley. Police said that the suspect car had been stolen out of Antioch.
The two suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, conspiracy and possession of a stolen vehicle. Crackel was also arrested for allegedly evading arrest and Grande for alleged probation violation. Both were taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Police continue to search for the third suspect, who has not been named.
Anyone with information about the suspect remaining at large is asked to call Danville police Detective Anthony Perry at 314-3710 or at
