The rumors of the death of San Ramon's Economic Advisory Committee have been greatly exaggerated.
The committee will discuss plans for the future at its meeting Wednesday night, but closing up shop is not among them.
"We are quite confident that City Council wants us to keep giving advice," said Lou Dagen, EDAC's at-large member.
But given the ending of redevelopment agencies across the state and in San Ramon, committee may look at taking on an expanded role to promote San Ramon businesses.
"Attracting business to San Ramon, talking about what the community has to offer them -- there's a lot of things that San Ramon has been involved in and the gist is that we will take on more and more of that stuff," Dagen said.
EDAC is tasked with recommending programs to help stimulate and retain business activity, retain existing businesses, review proposed policy changes and commercial development plans and communicate with the city and the community-at-large regarding affordable housing and economic development, among other things.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at council chambers, 2226 Camino Ramon. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
