DSRSD rates to go up in January

The Directors of the Dublin San Ramon Services District recently voted to increase sewer rates by about $40 a year for residential customers and raise the maximum "temporary" infrastructure charge from $18 every other month to $30 for residential water customers.

As I stated earlier, before and after this past meeting...It really MATTERS LITTLE that 100 or so people protest the increases...they are going ahead ANYWAY. In this economy? The people have LITTLE power in a town like our's...they are doing what they feel, as elected officialsl, they must do regardless of public commentary.

I think that's really scary, but another part of me understands this transcends political clout of citizens. All I can say? Is that they should have had the vision to provide for one increase instead of two (or more) and seen this coming so they didn't have to continue to hit us up for more money. Very poor planning, like so many of the public agencies appear to be lacking in their "rainy day" or vision for tough times.
