A University of California Board of Regents committee this morning approved an 8 percent undergraduate tuition hike for the 2011-12 academic year. The vote by the UC Regents' Finance Committee comes a day after 13 people were arrested during rowdy demonstrations against the increase at UC San Francisco's Mission Bay campus.

It’s the lavish pension plan that is killing the UC system. These pension plans are killing our local school system and our police and fire departments. It’s bankrupting our local, state, and federal governments.
