Fair Racing Stakes Preview for Friday, July 1

Dennis Miller's daily racing picks

A busy weekend of stakes races at the Alameda County Fair starts today with the inaugural running of the $50,000 Livermore Valley Wines Stakes.

A field of eight will go to post in the 9th race today for the six furlong sprint for 3-year-olds bred in California.

Road Ready, out Pleasanton's Jeff Bonde's barn, should be the favorite in the race. Road Ready, who will be ridden by Russell Baze, has won two of six career starts, including one of two starts this year. The horse won the Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas back in April.

In his most recent start, Road Ready ran third in the $100,000 Chick Lang at Pimlico in Maryland. Bonde has prepared the horse with a pair of bullet works over the track in Pleasanton.

Ain't No Other is out of the Steve Myadi barn and the winner of four of five starts this year, looks like the main speed horse in the field and should be setting the pace of the speed-friendly Pleasanton track.

The last two starts for Ain't No Other were a win in the Harry Henson at Hollywood in late April and a third in the Grade III Laz Barrera. Ain't No Other will be ridden by JJ Hernandez.

Unbridled Endeavor, Midnight Fiddle, Mack's Golf Bullet, Runaway Wildcat, Klassy Saint and Crown Over round out the field.
