Primo's Run retires No. 1

Primo's Run retired No. 1 for Danville Councilman Mike Shimansky on Sunday morning at 7:45 a.m. at the start of this year's race. For many years, Shimanky shot the gun to start the race as well as running in it himself. He died Sept. 15 after a bout with bacterial meningitis.

The number 1 was always reserved for Mike Schimansky. Retiring the number was the right thing to do.
