Construction crews broke ground Monday on the first phase of the Vasco Road Safety Improvement Project in eastern Contra Costa County. The first phase of the project will include widening and installing a median barrier on a 1-mile stretch of the road in the southernmost section in Contra Costa County, a section considered one of the most treacherous.

As most of us know who've traveled this roadway through the years - this work needed to HAPPEN YEARS AGO...suffice to say, as they say; it's never too late...though it would have saved AT LEAST, one dozen lives five years back. Ah well, the "wheels of progress" and all that...
